Debit Card Massacre
Does E-bay charge for use of a debit card and take off $1.00 for using it? I don’t know, but I am curious as to what is happening with debit cards and Paypal. Let me know please.
As you are well aware if you have been reading this blog, I am not in agreement with the current policies of Visa and Mastercard to permit its merchants to charge buyers a buying fee or a user fee or a use fee for using a debit card to make a purchase. The gasoline service companies are charging between $0.45 and $1.00 for each transaction for use of debit card. Liquor stores in Agoura Hills, California is charging $1.00 for each transaction.
The California Home Loan market is about ready to go into holiday mode. The mortgage brokers are beating the bushes for clients and the real estate agents are pounding the doors looking for sellers. It appears that it is a buyers market and this means that new home owners should not being paying points when they get their mortgages, unless of course there is no other way to get a mortgage.
So if anyone knows of a good place to find a mortgage without points, leave a comment. If anyone knows if Paypal is charging or not charging a transaction fee for a debit card, please let us know. As always we say, “Buyers Always Beware”.
